Maintenance and
Repair Services
We help guide customers through their automotive journey. Whether it’s daily maintenance, an extensive repair, or modifying performance and race cars, our goal is to make sure you feel that you and your car are in the right place.
Our years of driving, racing, and repairing these cars have developed insights that few repair and maintenance shops have. Our strong reputation among racing hobbyists and car enthusiasts for high-quality and specialized auto repair drives our commitment to excellence and how we treat every car that comes to EDGE.
- Regularly check refrigerant levels. Low refrigerant can lead to poor cooling performance.
- Inspect the condenser and evaporator for debris and damage.
- Replace the cabin air filter according to manufacturer-recommended intervals or more frequently in dusty environments.
- Run the AC system periodically, even in winter, to prevent seals from drying out.
- Look for mold or mildew smells coming from the vents. If present, have the system professionally cleaned.
- Dirty engine air filters can reduce engine performance and fuel efficiency.
- Regularly inspect brake pads and rotors for wear.
- Replace brake pads and rotors when they are worn to the minimum thickness.
- Check brake fluid levels and flush the system every two years to prevent moisture buildup.
- Inspect brake lines for leaks or damage.
- Pay attention to any unusual noises or vibrations when braking.
- Check coolant levels regularly and top up as needed.
- Flush and replace coolant every two to four years to prevent corrosion and maintain optimal performance.
- Inspect hoses and clamps for leaks or damage.
- Ensure the radiator and expansion tank are free of debris.
- A failing water pump or thermostat can lead to overheating.
- If your BMW is running hot, have it checked immediately.
- Check battery condition and connections regularly.
- Ensure all lights and electrical components are functioning correctly.
- Address any warning lights on the dashboard promptly.
- Modern BMWs have very complex electrical systems that demand more from their batteries than ever before.
- When electrical problems arise, it is best to have a certified technician diagnose and repair the issue.
Adhere to BMW’s recommended oil change intervals.
Inspect the exhaust system for leaks, damage, or corrosion.
Check spark plugs and ignition coils for wear and replace as needed.
Address any engine warning lights immediately.
Keep up to date on your BMW’s specific engine maintenance schedule.
EDGE recommends replacing the engine oil and filter every 5,000-7,000 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first. At a minimum, change the engine oil and filter according to BMW’s recommended intervals.
Check and top up power steering fluid, brake fluid, and coolant regularly.
Inspect brake fluid for contamination at least every 12 months.
EDGE recommends servicing the transmission fluid and filter(s) along with any other driveline fluid(s) every 50,000 miles, for most BMWs. Some may require more frequent transmission fluid servicing, as recommended by the manufacturer.
Inspect all fluid levels and lines for leaks.
Inspect shocks and struts for leaks or damage. Shocks typically are past their service life at 70,000 miles. Some high-performance shock absorbers require more frequent replacement or servicing.
Check suspension components for wear and tear.
Inspect power steering fluid levels and lines.
Have the steering system checked for unwanted movement or looseness.
Any clunking or unusual noises coming from the suspension should be inspected.
Check tire pressures regularly and inflate to the recommended level, including the spare tire, if equipped.
Rotate tires every 5,000-7,500 miles to ensure even wear and maximize tread life.
Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper tread depth.
Uneven tire wear is a sign that an alignment may be needed.
EDGE recommends checking the wheel alignment at least once every 12 months and making adjustments as needed. EDGE custom alignments can be geared towards daily driving and better tire wear, high-performance driving, and racing, or something in between.

Inspections
“It’s always a positive experience at EDGE Motorworks! The time that the service team puts into providing a thorough write up of the issues they identify is beyond compare to any shop I’ve gone to. They make helpful recommendations on which services need immediate attention and which should be monitored and addressed at a later service. The shop is filled with car enthusiasts and it makes all the difference.
Thank you EDGE team!”

Pre and Post-purchase Inspections
We feel a pre-purchase inspection is mandatory when buying a used vehicle, especially an older one. We give you a very detailed and objective assessment of the car’s condition. This empowers you in negotiation and gives you peace of mind ensuring a well-informed buying decision.
Under-car Inspections
Like the pre and post-purchase inspections, we deliver a highly detailed report on your car’s condition. You will know exactly what needs to be addressed immediately and what can be deferred. This allows you to schedule maintenance and repairs based on the need, your time, and budget.
